When you use the X52 Pro in full-realism flight simulators such as Microsoft Flight Sim X, or even in part-time (and somewhat basic) combat flight sims like the Battlefield series, you’ll simply be amazed how much fun it can be compared to a basic joystick or heaven forbid, a keyboard and mouse. Not having to remove your hands from the controllers to access any of the game’s functions really draws you into the whole experience like never before. The level and precision of the controls is outstanding, and unlike some cheaper joysticks, this one doesn’t feel like it will fall apart after 10 minutes of use.
All the buttons and additional controls on the joystick and throttle, such as the directional-hats, all have a very precise feel and movement to them and are positioned well, so your hands/fingers barely have to move at all to any of them. All the buttons have a solid feel to them, coupled with a reasonably light touch. The joystick movement is very easy, but not too vague or loose, the dual springs give enough resistance so you know what you’re doing. All this adds up to giving you a very engrossing game experience when running your favourite flight sim, because when you’re not fiddling with a keyboard all the time, you really start to feel like you’re part of the game, instead of just running a program.
Conclusion:
I can really find no wrong with the Saitek X52 Pro, it’s well built, comfortable to use and so full of features and buttons your mind simply boggles at the thought of it. Selling for AU$295, it’s around $80 more than the original version, but it’s better built, looks better, feels better and has added functionality thanks to the updated Multi-Function Display. For any gamer who’s into their Flight Sims, be they realistic ones like Flight Simulator X or combat Flight Sims, there really is no better unit than the X52 Pro on the market today.

|68.193.117.xxx |2009-10-05 06:07:14 Tom - Seitek failureI purchased the X52 when my Microsoft joystick died. It took 4 downloads & fixes from the Seitek om-line forum to get it to work - and a day later it went haywire in the middle of a dogfight on Fighter Ace. I have re-installed again & still have problems- the forum has hundreds of people complaining about it as well. Went to a cheaper logitex that is easy & works well with no hassles.
